I just have to take the time to talk about the most important part of my life. My wife. It takes a special person to be able to share the life of a trucker. Most people just don’t understand the sacrifice involved, most of which is time away from home. Without a solid understanding of what a trucker has to do and why, it can put a serious strain on a relationship.
Let’s be clear. Long distance trucking is far from a 9 to 5 job. A driver can be gone for weeks at a time, in order for the venture to be successful. This can set the stage for many things to go wrong. There’s all sorts of temptations that could potentially ruin a truckers’ way of life, as well as the person left at home who may sometimes feel the need to fill a void.
I’m blessed and thankful beyond words for the person that God placed in my life. I don’t mind coming home and having a “honey do” list that’s out the door. The person who made that list is the same one who runs a hot bubble bath for me. She trims my nails, serves me breakfast in bed, listens to all my concerns, and and reassures me that everything is going to be alright. What I’m try to say is that she LOVES me.
I cannot stress enough the importance of drive, discipline, endurance and determination, and faith required to do this job. How wonderful it is to have someone in your corner!
To my wife, Josie Rae Clark, I thank you for all of your support, believing in me, and being my biggest fan!!
