Hey… my fellow truckers,
This is Hammerin Hank, That Groovin Trucker comin to you on a serious note.
Flood waters are no joke! They can cause unimaginable devastation. Steady, uninterrupted rainfall can turn babbling brooks into raging rapids so fast that it is mind boggling. Aqueducts are especially dangerous, due to the speed at which the water flows. Someone falling in to one of these would probably be found wherever the aqueduct spills into. This could be miles away! Not good!
Water rolling across a roadway can be precarious because the depth of the water cannot be judged.
It is wise to have a radio with a weather band to get early warnings of inclement weather, and road closures. Keep a flashlight with fresh batteries at all times. A length of rope can also come in handy to aid in rescue. It may sound extreme, but it wouldn’t hurt to have an inflatable life vest with a beacon.
